With over 27 years of experience in the diving industry, Shaff Naeem is a trusted expert offering captivating underwater photography, professional diver instruction for private yachts, and reliable business consultations for dive centers.

An ex-military dive instructor and a certified Recreational Instructor Trainer, Shaff brings extensive expertise and a deep passion for diving that has taken him on extraordinary underwater journeys. He served in the Maldives National Defence Force for nearly 15 years, where he played a pivotal role in modernizing the Coast Guard Diving Unit to its current state. During his military career, Shaff also served as a Physical Training (PT) instructor, Amphibious Operations instructor, and Swimming and Diving instructor. Additionally, he managed dive centers at resorts for 5 years, further honing his leadership and operational skills within the industry.

Shaff is one of the few Maldivians involved in technical diving and is internationally recognized as one of the 111 inspirational technical divers in the world. He has been a regular speaker at the Asian Dive Expo for TekTalks, sharing his expertise with the global diving community. An award-winning underwater photographer, Shaff has had numerous articles and photos published in both international and local dive and travel magazines. He is also the current Asian record holder for the longest scuba dive, having spent 50 hours underwater in February 2022 during a dive called Ocean 6/50. Looking ahead, he is planning a groundbreaking dive project called “Across Maldives,” set for 2026. This pioneering endeavor will involve a dive spanning the entire length of the Maldives, from north to south, making it a first of its kind.

For Shaff, diving is far more than a profession—it’s a lifelong passion. His relentless curiosity and drive for exploration have led him through the breathtaking reefs and deep cave systems of the Maldives, granting him unique insights into the region’s mesmerizing marine ecosystem.
